What is domain?

A domain name is the address where Internet users can access your website. For example in www.web-art.co the domain would be web-art.co.

domains consist of two parts, the name and the suffix. In the example "web-art.co" the name is "web-art" and the suffix is "ir"

 What do you need to know for domain registration?

» The selected phrase should not be similar to any famous brand name.

» It should be short and it should consists of a minimum number of letters.

» It should be easy to pronounce and remember.

» It should match the type of site activity.

» It's better not contain letters or hyphen.

» It shouldn't be like the name of another site that makes visitors confused.

» Before making a domain selection, make sure that any other registered trademark that does not belong to you and that you do not have a legal right to use it, is not included in your address.

» You can renew your domain even within one month before expiration.

» In association with the domain usage, keep in mind the scope of international laws and local laws at the same time.

  • .edu

    The abbreviation for Education refers to the learning of knowledge; it is used for educational purposes as educational centers.

  • .org

    The abbreviation of "Organizations", usually used by non-profit organizations and organizations that often have non-commercial (or even commercial) activities.

  • .net

    The term "network", generally used by Internet service providers and information networks.

  • .com

    The most popular and most used extension for site domains. Com stands for Commercial. Of course, many general-purpose sites also use com suffix.

  • .gov

    The abbreviation of "government", this extension refers to government institutions.

  • .biz

    The term "business", which has been created specifically for business-related sites, especially electronic commerce services.

  • .int

    The abbreviation of "International", which represents the domain of any international organization.

  • .inf

    The abbreviation of the word "information" which is used for the sites that are in some ways related to the information. Used for types of information sites such as science, product introduction, service introduction, etc.

Iran domains list (.ir)

.ir: An extension used for domains in Iran which allowed to be used by the people who are officially resident in Iran.

.co.ir: This extension is for non-governmental organizations and corporations. The companies applying for this extension must have a registered company.

.ac.ir: This special extension is used for higher education institutions licensed by the Ministry of Science, the Ministry of Health, the Islamic Consultative Assembly, the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution, and the provision of a copy of this license is required.

.sch.ir: This extension is reserved for schools, educational institutions and other academic organizations under the Ministry of Education of the Islamic Republic of Iran and is required to provide a copy of this license and a written request on the head office of the institute.

.net.ir: This extension is for ISPs, and it is imperative to provide a copy of the ISP license.

.gov.ir: This extension is used for the executive departments, ministries and executive agencies, legislative and judicial branches of the Islamic Republic of Iran. To register this extension a written request on the company letter head is required.

.org.ir: An extension for academic associations, nonprofit organizations and internationally registered organizations

.id.ir: The application of this suffix is for the people of Iran, and the presentation of the applicant's identity card is required.
